I Will Be Rocks, I Will Be Water

I cannot take pictures of this tank without a glare. That’s why every photo is of the back right section only. Anyway, the miniature blackwater tank has been made. Esmeralda seems to enjoy it. I don’t know about the snail. He was doing okay this morning, but finding him amongst the new gravel is impossibly difficult. I’m sure he’s fine. I don’t recall what everything is, but here’s what I can remember as far as what’s used for the aquascaping: Fluval Plant and Shrimp Stratum – You probably shouldn’t use this if you’re going for a blackwater tank as it states, “Will not discolor water and helps control organic discoloration…

Let’s Find out Where It Goes

About two years ago we bought a sewing machine because I wanted to make a small curtain for Wicket’s bed area. She was used to sleeping in her cage at night, but I was tired of the bulky thing right by the bed. Our bedroom is very small. We have a queen bed and a side table, and that’s it. In fact, there wasn’t room for a dresser, so we had to stuff it in the closet. A large dog crate was just in the way. However, she seemed to enjoy the cubby feel of the crate, and I didn’t want to take that away from her. In the end,…

    And Suddenly Everything Is Right

I finally bought my first proper pair of cowboy boots. I feel like it’s a rite of passage. Five years in Montana, you either get a pair of cowboy boots or a cowboy hat, your pick. Ten years and you get a pick’em’up truck. Fifteen years and you get one of those handlebar mustaches. I wonder if mine will bring out my eyes. Note: I’m not going to link to these boots because the prices are vastly different between sites, and the size inventory seems limited in nearly every instance. If I linked to a site with the best deal today, they may not have your size anyway. They are…

It Won’t Do You No Good

I have a horrible reaction to sodium. I have, since I was about twenty, ballooned when consuming too much for the day or just too much at one time. I don’t know if this is some medical issue or just my body’s quirky way of telling me I don’t need the salt, but since I can control this reaction by simply avoiding unnecessary sodium, I don’t mind not paying $650 to have someone tell me it’s a medical condition which can be controlled by not consuming salt. So, annoyed at not being able to wear my wedding rings, having sock indents around my calves, and feeling at times as though…

    This Is Life

Levee has started her spring shedding. It doesn’t matter that I vacuum every day; I cannot keep up with her hair clods. They explode off her like a wet mogwai popping off hairball babies. We tried açaí, both in bowl form as well as juice. I’m convinced it’s a mass joke. Before this I’d have had difficulty naming a food I didn’t like. Sure, there are foods I don’t prefer, but very few I truly dislike. Açaí has, without any doubt whatsoever, become the food I dislike. I’d describe its flavor as fermented berries or “eww.” I wasn’t sure if maybe our açaí bowl packets had somehow gone off, but then…
