It’s Many Hundred Miles and It Won’t Be Long

There is nothing more important to me than being happy in life. That’s why Brian and I chose to be homeless, to move across the country with only a tent and our dogs, in search of the life we wanted. I will take risks to be happy. I know that money, security, and safety is important, but at the end of my life, whether it’s a year from now or fifty years from now, I don’t want my last thought to be, “I wish I’d…” I know it won’t be, “I’m glad at least I had some money.” When confronted with choices that risk happiness, I will go against the…

No Telling How All This Will Work Out

I have been jogging for a few weeks now. My only complaint about jogging, or any sort of prolonged walking/hiking, really, is the tendency for my socks to start slipping down into my shoes. This may just be something that annoys me personally and isn’t that big a deal to other people, but I doubt I’m the only person to find it obnoxious. So I’m going to tell you about something I bought on a whim when we were down in Wyoming in early July. We wanted to go hiking and had brought our hiking boots (Keen Targhee II – Women’s | Men’s), but I had forgotten to pack socks.…

    Every Single Place I Roam

We went camping again. I didn’t take any videos this time because it’s not something I’m fond of doing, but also, I find myself living in the moment these days, not worrying about being able to see pictures of the moments later. And Now You Are Wearing the Right Hat

We hadn’t returned to our favored campsite in Ten Sleep, Wyoming for five years, despite planning to go every summer — multiple times a summer, no less. A week or two ago I suggested we head that way, kind of in an off-hand way, the way I might suggest we hike the Appalachian Trail or start a dandelion farm. However, Brian ran with the idea, and so we went. We are both in much better shape than we were five years ago. Instead of hanging out in the tent, watching Duck Dynasty on the laptop, and drinking whiskey while we watch coyotes hop around nearby, we decided to go out…

You Do What You Want and Reap What You Sow

I mentioned not very long ago that I prefer doing the treadmill late at night, which is as true now as it was then. However, sometimes we have to put aside what we prefer to make way for what’s best. Man, this bugs me. I am not a morning person. I don’t spend forty minutes dragging my slippered feet around, eyes squinting against the brightness of the day, reaching blindly for a coffee mug, yawning, and scratching my fuzzy robe against my hip. I don’t even own a fuzzy robe. I am quick to wake up, but I am not interested in functioning for a good, oh, I don’t know,…
